Skills Development and Capacity Building
iMvula Quality Protection utilizes iMvula Skills Development Academy (iSDA) as a recruitment and training facility to ensure that our members are continuously well trained and fit for purpose. In doing so we comply with statutory requirements as well as the ever-increasing demand for quality service, acceptable risk reduction and proactive loss prevention by our clients.

iSDA is a fully accredited provider of education and training services with the SASSETA (accreditation number 061935489457), and is a registered and accredited provider of the Further Education and Training Certificate: Specialist Security Practices NQF 4 (SAQA ID 57713, the National Certificate: General Security Practices NQF 3 (SAQA ID 58577) all PSIRA grades, National Key Point Training and the full range of firearm unit standards with the SASSETA. The Academy is also compliant with all required PSIRA, National Key Point Secretariat and SAPS accreditation requirements. A large emphasis is also placed on Environmental Management, OHSAS and OHS Act required training and competence with refresher training and certification repeated annually.

iMvula Skills Development Academy is currently in the process of extending its scope of accreditation to include the National Certificate: New Venture Creation NQF 2 (SAQA ID 49648) – Services Seta, Aviation Security Personnel Training and Certification Provider – South African Civil Aviation Authority (AVSEC Division), the National Certificate: Occupational Health, Safety and Environment NQF 2 (SAQA ID 74269) – HWSETA, the National Certificate: Aviation Support Operations NQF 3 (SAQA ID 65010 ) and the National Certificate: Professional Driving NQF 3 (SAQA ID 50285 ) – TETA.

iMvula Quality Protection embarked on an intensive drive to convert all security officers from the PSIRA grades to the SASSETA Skills Programmes, with the ultimate goal of having the vast majority of our officers fully qualified and in possession of the National Certificate in General Security Practices (SAQA ID 58577, NQF level 3).

The qualification is offered to all our officers in a phased approach and is packaged in such a way that the operational commitments of learners are accommodated. We offer the qualification in a supported, self-study format coupled with various activities to ensure that maximum learning takes place. Assessments include knowledge assessments, practical assignments and assessment by means of observation.

Supervisor or business unit managers and direct managers trained as workplace coaches, are monitored by registered assessors and moderators from the SASSETA. The qualification has been divided into three skills programmes, namely that of patrol officer (previously Grade E), access control officer (previously Grade D), and asset protection officer (previously Grade C). Supervisor or business unit managers and management employees complete the same training as defined in the outcomes of Skills Programmes 4 and 5 (previously referred to as Grades A and B) and complete the qualification (SAQA ID 57713) on NQF level 4.
